Story

Lumberjills is a series that tells the story of professional women timbersports competitors. Their sport requires precision, skill and strength -- the same kind of chopping and sawing that the foresters of previous centuries accomplished to help found the country. The series is about a group of powerful women who overcome life's daily obstacles to compete on a national stage. By following four powerful women champions and competitors -- Erin, Martha, Kendall and Tracie -- we find out what drives them to train and sacrifice to vie for the top prize every year.
This pilot episode serves as a proof-of-concept for the entire series, introducing the characters that we would follow closely in the series as they move toward championship day in July.
The gender equity issue often comes up in the world of professional timbersports. The men's division regularly gets funding for more prize money, more promotion and even more events (six compared to the women's four events, moving up from three in 2021). The Lumberjills have some strong opinions about equity in the sport, and they should be heard.
So much goes into the journey to the championship -- hundreds of hours of hard work, training, personal expense and family sacrifice. We hope this episode is just the start of giving these competitors the recognition they deserve.
